It's my own fault. I should have known better

March 3, 2025

It's my own fault.
I should have known better.

I have travelled far and wide 🌏and know the 100ml liquids rule at  ✈️ airports but I completely forgot I had this on the side of my bag.
I'm called over to have my bag searched and tested by a very serious looking woman.

I am trying to help the Officer by stating "it's water in the bottle."  That doesn't matter as it's still a liquid.  I understand that and know it will be confiscated.  It's not harmful or valuable, was really my point.

They have nowhere to throw it away so I offer to drink it.
Can't do that as I will need to return to the pre-security area to consume any food or drink.
OK 🫣

They disappear off to dispose of the contents and look even more annoyed at me.  We are really not seeing each others point of view, which is causing further friction.

They are talking over me as they are right.  I am trying to atone my actions not take short cuts or by-pass the rules.
This is not going well.
Next time I will just be quiet and they can keep the bottle (maybe not as this is favourite and most reliable water bottle).

How often does this situation happen at work ❓
You just don't get on and that atmosphere and relationship is affecting the workplace.

Ever thought of mediation for the parties involved ❓
