Dear job seeker,
How to stay positive during very trying times as job hunting sucks.
😊Spend 1-2 hours per day job-seeking. Nothing more. Find something productive to do with the rest of the day.
😊Keep your phone on loud and check emails (including junk), messages frequently.
😊 Google jobs - my first step on helping someone find a job. After your initial search, you just need to select those advertised in the last 24 hours, so it gets quicker.
😊Change your keywords when searching for work. Not everything has the same title and you may find opportunities you hadn't thought of.
😊 Check your socials for any new job opportunities. Friends and ex-colleagues may be sharing or advertising jobs.
😊Have you checked in with your network for any opportunities? People you used to work with, an ex-boss, asking friends to keep an eye out for you.
😊Phone to follow up with applications. This gets you ahead of the other candidates by introducing yourself. In most cases now, you don't get a response to an application so this can help you determine which roles are still viable.
😊Videos - this is out there! How about finding a new way to market yourself? Ditch the written word and create video content to get out there. I do this with candidates to bring them to life.
😊Take all the help that is offered to you - in fact, go out and seek that assistance. There are lots of people and organisations who will help you for FREE!
😊But most importantly, find yourself a new hobby or some part time work to keep yourself positive and entertained. Go out walking. Listen to podcasts. Sell things you don't need on Vinted (my guilty pleasure!) Whatever it is, don't let job hunting consume you. If you have been searching for some time, then it might be time to do things differently.
This is a period of time you can reflect back on - how do you want to remember that time❓
